JACIRA PONTINTA

Jacira is the author of O Estigma da Cor (Thomas Nelson Brasil, Editora Quitanda), a painstakingly prepared book, where she presents a set of reflections on how racism hurts Christ’s two great commandments. The text is incisive and crosses themes such as slavery, colonialism, violence against women, resentment and social inequality, but presents propositional paths based on the biblical framework and ecclesial testimonies. If many false Christians — and false Christs — have simply ignored the precepts of love and justice, there is, on the other hand, a solid legacy of fighting injustice in Christian history. These examples should not discourage us. As Coretta King said, “If everything is ‘an eye for an eye’, we will all end up blind”. Jacira is also finishing her Masters in Education, Art and History of Culture (Mackenzie). Postgraduate student in Biblical and Exegetical Theology of the NT (FICV). Lecturer. Graduated in Accounting (UFPB).

LIVREPRESS and JACIRA

We discovered Jacira when her book The Stigma of Color was released in 2023. Seeing the value of this beautiful content, LIVREPRESS contacted Editora Quitanda, the publishing house that owns the rights for the book, and now LIVREPRESS will publish it in English, in the United States.
